Next England manager: Who could replace Roy Hodgson as Three Lions boss if he's sacked?
ROY HODGSON's England future is under threat after failing to top Group B.
Roy Hodgson's job is under threat after England finished second in Group B
Hodgson has been set the task of taking England to the semi-finals at Euro 2016.
But finishing as the group runners up means they could face France in the quarter finals.
And while the hosts have yet to find top gear just yet they would be heavy favourites against England.
Gary Neville
Gary Neville is the favourite to take over from Hodgson having worked with the team as his assistant boss.
But his managerial experiment with Valencia was a complete failure.
He was sacked after four months - 28 games - winning just three times in La Liga and 10 times in total.
He is thought to be popular among the players but would be a risky option having had no other coaching experience - other than with England and Valencia.
Gary Neville is the bookmakers' favourite for the job
Gareth Southgate
Gareth Southgate is doing a good job as the under-21 boss.
He helped them to the Toulon tournament this summer but his only other managerial experience came at Middlesbrough where he was sacked after being relegated.
Would be a trusty pair of hands but his name wouldn't set the world alight.
Gareth Southgate is under-21 boss and is in the running to take over
Alan Pardew
Alan Pardew is in the running purely on the basis that there are so few English candidates about.
Pardew guided Crystal Palace to the FA Cup final and to 15th in the Premier League last season - making him the highest-finishing English boss.
He's had disciplinary issues and a stadium ban for head butting Hull's David Meyler.
He goes through runs where his sides look unbeatable, but then goes through others where his teams can't by a win.
Alan Pardew was the highest-finishing English manager in the Premier League last year
Eddie Howe
Eddie Howe is probably still too young for the gig but has been impressive at Bournemouth.
It didn't quite go to plan at Burnley so it may be best to see him try somewhere else before he's asked to step up to England.
He's been linked with the Southampton job although is no longer the favourite.
Howe is expected to be in the running when the Arsenal and Chelsea jobs become available next - although that could still be a few years away.
Eddie Howe is doing a great job at Bournemouth but is probably too young for the England job
Arsene Wenger
Arsene Wenger only has a year on his contract - although there were noises of another one being in the offing recently - and knows English football like no one else.
The Arsenal boss may have become a controversial figure in recent years but there is no doubting his pedigree and his standing in the game.
Should the FA ditch Hodgson a conversation with Wenger should definitely take place - even just to gauge his thoughts.

Joachim Low
What did the cricket team do when they needed a new boss?
What did the rugby team do when they needed to replace Stuart Lancaster?
Go out and get the best man for the job. And where better to look than the current world champion?
Joachim Low may have his indiscretions, but he's done a brilliant job as Germany manager.
Could the English public face a German in charge of the football team? Maybe not...
Joachim Low was crowned a world champion in Brazil in 2014
