WAYNE ROONEY will be rested by England on Monday night as Roy Hodgson prepares to take a huge gamble by making six changes to his starting line-up for the showdown with Slovakia.

The England captain is to begin on the substitutes’ bench as Hodgson rings the changes just hours after being told by his bosses at the Football Association he must reach the semi-finals of Euro 2016 to safeguard his job.
In will come Daniel Sturridge, Jamie Vardy, Jordan Henderson, Jack Wilshere, Nathaniel Clyne and Ryan Bertrand for their first starts of the finals as England look to claim top spot in Group B.
“All the players are capable of coming into this team and helping us win.”
Earlier Dyke cranked up the pressure on Hodgson in a radio interview.
“If we’ve done well and played well I think he will be renewed,” said Dyke. “What is doing well? Semis would be great; quarter-finals if we play well.”
