Sachin Tendulkar falls agonisingly short of 100th 100 once again
SACHIN TENDULKAR’s wait for his 100th international century goes on after he fell just six runs short before tail-ender Ravichandran Ashwin showed him the way with a maiden 100 in the third Test against the West Indies.
With bat dominating ball throughout the match to make a draw the only likely result, day four was set up for Tendulkar’s landmark innings in his native Mumbai, but he was dismissed by Ravi Rampaul for 94.
No 8 Ashwin, who had scored just four runs in two innings in his first two matches, produced an entertaining 103 off 118 balls before he was last man out with the score on 482.
Spinner Pragyan Ojha took two wickets as the West Indies began their second innings, which progressed to 81-2 by stumps – a lead of 189.
