Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder: Anthony Joshua taunted by WBC champion
DEONTAY WILDER has fired even more shots at Anthony Joshua as he closes in on a showdown with Tyson Fury later this year.
Tyson Fury SLAMS Anthony Joshua for not fighting Wilder
Wilder is hoping to fight the Gypsy King on either November 10 or November 17 in America after talks with Joshua broke down.
The pair had been discussing a blockbuster unification bout but they failed to reach an agreement.
Joshua will now fight mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin next month while Wilder hopes to defend his belt against Fury.
The Manchester boxer was stripped of his titles two years ago after failing a drugs test.
But after serving his ban, he is now on a mission to rediscover his former glory - and Wilder is delighted with how the negotiations have gone.
“I respect for him and I salute him for that [accepting the fight in America], for trying to save face for his country, to try to save them from the embarrassment they feel over there,” Wilder told BoxingScene.com..
“Because we’re laughing at them hard, especially when Joshua asked for $50 million and then talked about he was just playing.
“But Fury, he’s a true champion. This is what champions are all about.
“Whatever date that suits us best, that’s the date we’ll go with.
“But people should know that this fight is happening. It will happen. We just can’t wait. We can’t wait to announce it and get it on.
“It could be wrapped up next week. Or it could be wrapped up [Friday]. We’re that close.
“This has been the easiest negotiation I’ve ever been in, dealing with a fight of this magnitude. That just lets you know this fight will happen.
“I don’t see nothing that will stop this fight from happening, nothing at all.”
