Deontay Wilder should fight Dillian Whyte next, not Anthony Joshua - Sky Sports man Nelson
DEONTAY WILDER should NOT fight Anthony Joshua next.
Wilder crushes Stiverne in opening round in Brooklyn
That's the verdict of Sky Sports boxing pundit Johnny Nelson, who says Dillian Whyte should be in the American's sights instead.
Wilder retained his WBC heavyweight title with a first-round stoppage of Bermane Stiverne at the Barclays Center last night.
And immediately after the bout he called out Joshua, who currently holds the IBF, WBA and IBO titles.
Wilder against Joshua has been billed as the ultimate test of each fighter's mettle.
But Nelson wants to see Wilder take on Whyte before he gets a crack at Joshua though.
I think business-wise I would say Dillian Whyte first, then Anthony Joshua
"I think business-wise I would say Dillian Whyte first, then Anthony Joshua, so the British public can get more familiar with who Deontay Wilder is," Nelson told Sky Sports
"Obviously if he got through that, then that makes for a big fight with Joshua.
"I'm talking with a business head and I personally want to see Wilder-Whyte, because No1 - it positions Dillian in the heavyweight division and No 2 - it builds up for a good fight if Wilder got through him.
"AJ wins both ways, because Whyte can build that fight too, if he wins."

Spencer Oliver is keen to see Wilder take on Joshua straight away though.
"I personally would love to see him fight Anthony Joshua, just because I'm a massive Joshua fan and he wants those big fights, he wants to unify," he explained.
"I know it's a fight that Joshua would relish as well.
"I would also want it over here with home advantage, without a doubt. That's potentially the most dangerous fight out there for AJ. Home advantage would be crucial.
"We've seen how the fans are for Joshua and how they turn out over here, we saw it again in Cardiff. That sort of advantage will pull him through."
