Carl Froch has told Anthony Joshua his career in the boxing ring is over after being knocked out by Daniel Dubois.

Joshua was sent to the canvas by a brutal right hook from Dubois in round five of their Wembley Stadium bout. It was a bitter defeat for the two-time world champion, who had been hoping to use Saturday's fight to reset his career.

Instead though, questions are mounting over what the future may hold for the 34-year-old. Former world champion Froch is leading the inquest and has warned Joshua that it is time to hang up his gloves.

Froch delivered a brutal analysis of Joshua's performance at Wembley and questioned his desire to continue fighting. He hailed Dubois and insisted the 27-year-old had "bullied" Joshua throughout their bout.

"Anthony Joshua got absolutley battered from pillar to post. He walked to the ring and he looked nervous. He didn't look confident. Daniel Dubois was smiling and enjoying himself," Froch said on his YouTube channel.

"From round one Joshua was getting peppered with the jab, he was on his back foot, he was bolt upright, rigid, doing everything wrong. He was being pushed around the ring and bullied, Dubois came in like a world champion."

"He didn't recover from those shots. He lacked ambition, he lacked self-belief and confidence. His powers of recover are terrible, he looked exhausted. I question Anthony Joshua's desire to be in that boxing ring anymore."

"Everything was wrong. By round five he looked like he'd ran out of ideas, he looked like a beaten man. Let's be fair to AJ he came out in round five and had a go, almost like a last hurrah."

"I don't think AJ wants it anymore, he shouldn't be boxing. That performance was weak. What next for AJ? I don't even know. This could be see the last we see of Anthony Joshua. I just can't see a future for Anthony Joshua."

While Froch believes that Joshua's time is up, the 34-year-old has insisted he will be back in the ring. Speaking after his defeat, Joshua claimed he wants to continue fighting.

"We came up short as a team. You know I'm ready to kick off in the ring but I'm going to keep it respectful. Before I came here, I always say to myself I'm a fighter for life. You keep rolling the dice. I had a fast and sharp opponent, a lot of mistakes from my end," he said.

"We walk the walk come out with our head held high. We're trying to create history for British boxing and think we're doing that. Of course I want to continue fighting. We took a shot and we came up shortl What are we going to do, walk away? We're going to live another day."
