Boxing news - Anthony Joshua twist
Matchroom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn has revealed Anthony Joshua's next fight could end up being moved to the middle east.
In an interview with Boxing Social, he said: “We’re not going to go to AJ and say, mate, there’s £10 million less in the pot – we’ve got to get creative.
“These countries are going to be up and running a lot quicker than our country or America.
“Would Saudi (Arabia) or Dubai or Abu Dhabi be ready to stage an event in September or October? I think 100 per cent.
“If you can’t get a live gate for the bigger fights we have to look elsewhere and that involves looking at other territories
“Do I really want AJ to box behind closed doors?. No.
"With what he has produced in terms of that live audience, I will be doing everything I can do make sure AJ doesn’t fight behind closed doors.”
I don’t care if Mike Tyson is in the gym for the next ten years, he has no chance against any heavyweight
Boxing news - Mike Tyson return slammed
Mike Tyson's former promoter Frank Warren has rubbished the notion of the former undisputed heavyweight champion making a comeback.
"I don’t care if Mike Tyson is in the gym for the next ten years, he has no chance against any heavyweight," Warren wrote in his Metro column. "I have no idea who would licence him at the age of 53 if it wasn’t an exhibition match. I can’t see any governing body doing that.
"He’s in there getting himself fit and well, and that’s brilliant. But in terms of fighting again, give me a break.
"I know the lockdown is driving us all a bit mad and there’s lots of talk about fantasy fights, but all the fighters who come back all wind up one way – going straight back out again.
"If they make it into the ring, they all get beat bad and embarrassed. Towards the end of his career Danny Williams and Kevin McBride did a job on Mike.
"If he comes back, who is he going to fight? His trainer said he could fight any heavyweight in six months, he probably could.
"I could fight any heavyweight in six months, at least I could get in there and try. There’s only one outcome and it would be the same for Mike."
Boxing news - Floyd Mayweather vs Adrien Broner statement
Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe has emphatically denied rumours of Floyd Mayweather facing his former protege Adrien Broner.
“One million per cent false, total silliness," Ellerbe told Yahoo Sports' Kevin Iole.
“Whomever is spreading this nonsense, it’s an outright lie.”
