Deontay Wilder sends Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Andy Ruiz message after Luis Ortiz KO win
Deontay Wilder called out Tyson Fury, Andy Ruiz Jr and Anthony Joshua after brutally knocking out Luis Ortiz.
Deontay Wilder showcased his superhuman power on Saturday night as he knocked out Luis Ortiz to retain his WBC world heavyweight title.
The ‘Bronze Bomber’ was losing the fight comfortably before unleashing a right hand from hell straight onto Ortiz’s chin.
The Cuban was sent crashing to the canvas as Wilder jumped to the top rope to celebrate his latest impressive win.
He will now go on to rematch Tyson Fury in February, but insists he wants a unification afterwards against the winner of Anthony Joshua's rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr.
Ortiz started the bout superbly, and took the fight to Wilder.
‘King Kong’ was bidding to become one of the oldest heavyweight world champions in boxing history, and looked on course to do so.
His blistering start replicated his last fight with Wilder, when he had success taking the champion to the ropes.
Despite backing up Wilder to the ropes, he was unable to land anything too significant.
He looked to have some success when he was taking the fight to the defending champion, who refused to engage when the fight got too close.
Wilder continued to wait and look for the opening for his signature right hand, which he did in the seventh round.
The heavy hitting champion landed a crippling shot to send Ortiz crumbling to the floor with his legs buckled.
It was immediately obvious that Ortiz wasn’t getting up, but referee Kenny Bayless still gave a ten-count.
Wilder didn’t wait for the decision, and jumped to the top rope to celebrate, before sending a message to his next opponent.
“Tyson Fury is definitely next,” he said.
“After that I want a unification bout against the winner [of Andy Ruiz vs Anthony Joshua 2].
“Right now we’re ready for Tyson Fury, I hope he’s ready for me.
“I know his trainer was here, I hope he was taking notes, I’m ready.
“I’m ready to go any given moment any given time, and it looks like February is that time.”
