Boxing tonight: Ritson vs Davies Jr, Cheeseman vs Fitzgerald - stream, times and undercard
Express Sport are on hand with all you need to know about Lewis Ritson vs Robbie Davies Jr and Ted Cheeseman vs Scott Fitzgerald.
Lewis Ritson takes on Robbie Davies Jr in Newcastle on Saturday, with Scott Fitzgerald aiming to see off Ted Cheeseman before the main event.
Davies Jr is the strong favourite to retain his British light-welterweight title and also his European light-welterweight title that he took from Joe Hughes in March.
Ritson is looking to continue his return to form with a third win since losing to Francesco Patera via a split decision last year, but his opponent already boasts an 18-1 record.
Fitzgerald is also the big favourite to beat Cheeseman in the one of the most exciting fights on the undercard, with Cheeseman hoping to get back on track after his loss at the hands of Sergio Garcia.
"It's where I've wanted to be and it's the fight I've wanted for a while," declared Davies Jr on Sky Sports when asked what it means to be headlining a card.
"I've come up the hard way in boxing and it's for moments like this where I can be the main event in the big arenas.
"Lewis Ritson is the fight I've wanted for a long time and now everybody is going to see the very best of me and it's going to take place on the biggest stage."
A victory would likely see Davies Jr be in line to fight some of the best in the division, and he is already planning to take his career to the next level.
He added: ”The world champions in the division are ahead of me now, but I like to think that I can catch them up fairly quickly.
“I’ve said that someone like Mario Barrios is a fight I'd love in the near future and [that would] provide me with a little more experience against the guys at the top.”
