Daniel Jacobs ‘in trouble’ against Alvarez claims Smith
Canelo Alvarez rates Daniel Jacobs as one of the finest fighters he has had to face in his decorated middleweight career.
Ahead of their unification fight in Las Vegas in the early hours of the morning UK time, the WBA and WBC title holder expects a tough task to add his opponent’s IBF belt to his collection.
The American’s only loss in almost a decade was a points defeat to Gennady Golovkin, who Canelo Alvarez beat at the T-Mobile Arena where he will defend his titles.
Discussing Jacobs’ talents, Canelo said: “He’s a strong fighter and a big fighter.
“Jacobs is at the top and has one of the most complete styles in boxing. The middleweight division is in one of its best moments now.
“Before my title fights, I took a lot of records from previously unbeaten opponents. It’s important for me to keep writing history to continue my legacy.”
As well as the defeat to the once-dominant Golovkin, Jacobs also tasted defeat to Dmitry Pirog almost nine years ago.
