Boxing news: Canelo Alvarez and Danny Jacobs CLASH at weigh in - Mexican SHOVES Jacobs
CANELO ALVAREZ and Danny Jacobs clashed at the weigh-in for their world middleweight unification fight and had to be held apart by their respective teams.
Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs face-off ahead of fight
Jacobs and Alvarez are unifying the WBC, WBA, IBF and Ring Magazine world titles at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night.
The fight is one of the most highly-anticipated bouts of the year, and the pair showed their will to win at Friday’s weigh-in.
Alvarez weighed in at 159.5lbs, while Jacobs clocked in exactly on the middleweight limit of 160lbs.
After weighing in, the pair went for their face-to-face and had a few choice words for each other.
Jacobs and Alvarez appeared to push their foreheads towards close before the Mexican superstar attempted to push Jacobs back.
The pound-for-pound star had to be held back by security as he attempted to get back at the American.
The fight represents a huge milestone event in the career of Jacobs, who returned from beating cancer in 2011 to resume his boxing career and become a world champion.
Jacobs has only lost twice in his professional career - suffering defeats to Gennady Golovkin and Dmitry Pirog - while Alvarez has only come up short against Floyd Mayweather.
Ahead of what will staggeringly be his 55th professional fight at age 28, Alvarez insisted that he does not feel any fear.
Instead, he declared that he is only excited to take on the challenge of ‘Miracle Man’ Jacobs.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Alvarez declared that his love for boxing is what keeps him going.
“I don’t know what fear is,” he said. “It’s just excitement. I don’t know that feeling.
“I like boxing. I respect boxing. Boxing is my life. I keep training. I’m still learning. I like it.
“I respect my team and they say we need to train, so we train.
“That’s why I’m here in this position.”
