Anthony Joshua: Eddie Hearn lists replacements for Jarrell Miller
Anthony Joshua opponent
Anthony Joshua’s opponent for June 1 is expected to be confirmed today, according to Barry Hearn.
Joshua was due to fight Jarrell Miller in New York however the American has been pulled after failing a number of drugs tests.
Andy Ruiz Jr, Luis Ortiz and Michael Hunter are among the rumoured new opponents and Hearn revealed on Monday that a confirmation is likely today.
"I know he’s [Eddie Hearn] very close," Barry Hearn told Sky Sports.
"I understand there's every chance he's going to make an announcement tomorrow, so it's getting there.
“It's difficult, it's very difficult, the political world of boxing and the money they're talking about, but it's also difficult when a few people view it as an opportunity to put one over on AJ, or us, or boxing.
"We have five likely opponents, so it's not a question we're going to be blackmailed, we're never going to be forced into doing anything stupid, because we just don't work like that.
Dillian Whyte warning
Dillian Whyte won’t be taking on Anthony Joshua as he prepares to fight Oscar Rivas on July 20.
Whyte was a rumoured opponent for the heavyweight however could not agree terms on a deal.
However Whyte believes his Colombian opponent will prove to be a tougher fight than facing AJ would.
Whyte said: “Yeah of course I would [have stepped in] but I’ve got Oscar Rivas and I think he’s probably a much harder fight in ways because of his size and his build, how stocky he is, and the pressure he brings you know.”
“It’s a massive gamble. He’s a dangerous guy, a known commodity.
“Very, very experienced, very, very schooled. He can punch. And he’s motivated as well. He’s quite a stocky guy so he looks strong.”
Canelo Alvarez vs Daniel Jacobs
Canelo Alvarez is a huge favourite to beat Daniel Jacobs when the pair meet in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
But Jacobs shouldn’t be thinking about what defeat might do to his career, according to Oscar De La Hoya.
“Anyone can lose in Las Vegas. I lost in Vegas and apparently I was always the favourite,” De La Hoya said to RingTV.com.
“Anybody can lose and I would be surprised if Daniel Jacobs is thinking about that because I know what a professional he is.
“I can tell you Canelo is going in there with the mentality of winning and I expect Jacobs to do the same.
“Don’t worry about the judges; worry about the fight.”
