Anthony Joshua next fight to be announced on Monday? Wembley tease huge announcement
ANTHONY JOSHUA’s next opponent is currently the talk of the boxing world.
Anthony Joshua: I would LOVE to fight Tyson Fury
Joshua - the WBA (Super), WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion - is next scheduled to take to the ring on April 13.
The Olympic gold medallist’s next outing is due to take place at Wembley Stadium, the venue for his unforgettable victory over Wladimir Klitschko.
Joshua currently doesn’t have a dance partner for his latest outing, which has led to a flurry of speculation as to who he’ll face.
But it looks like his 23rd professional opponent could be unveiled on Monday morning.
On Saturday evening, Wembley Stadium’s official Twitter account revealed that a big announcement will be made at 10 o'clock on Monday morning.
“Announcement Monday 10AM,” they tweeted.
‘AJ’ was hoping to have a unification bout with his WBC counterpart Deontay Wilder, who fought Tyson Fury to a controversial draw last month.
However, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ has his sights set on rematching Fury and looks set to face ‘The Gypsy King’ later this year.
Announcement Monday 10AM
A rematch with Dillian Whyte has been in the works but stalled as ‘The Bodysnatcher’ was unhappy with the offer he received to face Joshua.
But it appears that an agreement may have been reached as Whyte declared on Sunday that his next fight will be announced 'real soon'.
“Next fight announcement coming real soon," the mandatory WBC heavyweight title challenger wrote on Instagram on Sunday morning.
“Can’t wait to get back in the ring it’s been too long.”
Many UK boxing fans were hoping a ‘Battle of Britain’ between Joshua and Fury would take place on April 13.
Joshua’s representatives did offer the 30-year-old the fight but their proposal was swiftly rejected due to a dispute over the purse split.
Fury is hellbent on exacting revenge on Wilder, who last night claimed his second showdown with 'The Gypsy King' will be announced within a fortnight.
“It’ll be announced real soon,” Wilder said on Saturday night.
Dillian Whyte 'not going to sit and wait' for Anthony Joshua
“They said maybe in about two weeks or so it’ll be announced.
“We’re just getting all the little things in order and we’re going to announce it and we’re going to have another epic fight.”
It remains to be seen if Joshua and Whyte will indeed renew their rivalry on April 13.
But one thing’s for sure, boxing fans in the UK will be keeping their eyes firmly fixed on Wembley Stadium’s Twitter on Monday morning.
