Pointless fans shocked as contestants make epic fail in UK politics round: ‘Appalling'
POINTLESS fans were up in arms last night as contestants showed they knew very little about recent UK politics.

In the first round of the BBC quiz, the four pairs were asked by presenter Richard Osman to name any political leader from either the Conservative, Labour or Liberal Democrat party who had been born in the twentieth century.
Despite it being a seemingly-easy question, many of the players struggled to name a leader at all.
Contestant Ian, from Swansea, answered Neil Kinnock, who he claimed had led the Lib Dems, while contestant Dave, from Mansfield, guessed “Ian Callaghan” had once led the Labour Party.
Richard later pointed out that Neil Kinnock had led the Labour Party from 1983-1992, while James Callaghan was Labour Prime Minister from 1976 to 1979.

Engagement in politics is appalling
The best answer of the round came from Ulf, a Swedish native working as a diplomat at the Embassy in London.
Ulf chose Iain Duncan Smith, which scored a respectable seven points, although he hilariously pronounced his name as “Iron”.
Those watching at home were shocked by the players’ lack of engagement in modern politics.
One furious person tweeted: “Just watching #pointless Engagement in politics is appalling, judging by people's knowledge of it.”

“Ian Callaghan, the full back/prime minister. Oof. #pointless,” another joked.
A third wrote: “#pointless WTF is wrong with these people, lacking even the most BASIC of political knowledge.”
While a fourth remarked: “The Swedish guy knows more about UK politics than anyone else. #pointless.”
Pointless airs weekdays at 5.15pm on BBC One.
