While the pair are yet to announce if they will remain on the series and continue to work with Love Productions, Paul is tipped to replace Chris Evans as the host of Top Gear.
The 50-year-old is a huge fan of cars and a self-confessed petrol head so the move would make sense.
Furthermore, he has already presented one-off show - License to Thrill - for the broadcaster.
In his spare time, he is an amateur sports car racer and qualified in second place at the Britcar Trophy Championship at Silverstone last year.

Paul told former Top Gear host Chris Evans that he would like to stay on the BBC
Paul starred on the latest series of the revamped Top Gear where he expressed his desire to remain on the BBC with Bake Off.
Speaking to Chris, he explained: "I've said, I think the girls have said as well, we want to stay with the BBC.
"As far as Mary, Mel, Sue and myself, we want to stay with the BBC."
However, now the series is leaving the broadcaster he may consider other opportunities, including Top Gear.
The BBC are believed to be 'bending over backwards' to keep Mary from moving channels
The pair have been vocal about remaining at the BBC in the past
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the BBC are "bending over backwards" to stop Mary from leaving the corporation.
A source told The Mirror: "[The BBC have] told Mary she can have whatever show she likes. There are offers of Christmas specials and spin off shows about family meals and other feasts on the table.
"Brand Berry is not only a good fit for the BBC - they think she is a better fit with them for sales of her homeware products. She is committed to making quality products, and they believe her non-commercial affiliation supports this."
The current series of The Great British Bake Off airs on Wednesdays at 8pm on BBC One.
