Poldark series 2: 'WORRIED' cast break silence on ratings battle with ITV's Victoria
POLDARK and ITV's Victoria are set to go head-to-head in an epic Sunday night ratings battle, and now the stars of the BBC hit have opened up about the daunting prospect.
The stars of Poldark have discussed going up against Victoria
Speaking to Express.co.uk at a screening for series two tonight, on-screen couple Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson gave their thoughts on the scheduling ahead of the launch next week.
The actress, 24, who plays Demelza in the 18th Century-set drama, admitted: "I'm really worried… I'm fiercely competitive."
However, her heartthrob co-star seemed less concerned about the clash, with writer Debbie Horsfield simply stating: "It makes a good story."
When asked if he was concerned, Aidan commented: "People watch TV in different ways, you can watch Victoria and then catch us on iPlayer or vice versa.

Jenna Coleman's period drama drama will also air on Sundays at 9pm

"There's a different way of doing it now. I don't think it means what it used to mean a few years ago."
Aidan, who was also accompanied by executive producer Damian Timmer, went on to say "it's the way it is these days".
He added: "It really doesn't feel like [we're being pitched against each other] at all. We met the guys a few weeks and we were talking about this, and we said it doesn't really matter."

Jenna Coleman's Victoria kicks off a week earlier than the second run of Poldark, which sees her take on the young monarch.
Meanwhile, viewers can expect high drama as Aidan's returns as Ross, who is facing jail or even worse as he continues to mourn the loss of his daughter.
Poldark returns to BBC One on September 4 at 9pm.
