The 56-year-old presenter, who herself took part in the very first series, did not have good things to say about the current run of the celebrity reality show, hinting that there are things the public haven’t been shown that Grant is better away from.
“He was unlucky to be out first,” Anthea said, referring to Grant being the first housemate of the series to be voted out by the public. “But maybe the fact he was out first did him a favour.”
Presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford asked her to elaborate. “Seeing what was cut out and what wasn’t, it did him a favour,” Anthea said, suggesting that she has seen footage that the public weren’t shown.

I have found this series has had a nasty edge to it
“I have found this series has had a nasty edge to it,” she continued. “I haven’t enjoyed it as much as other series.”
Anthea’s comments come amid another turbulent series of the Channel 5 show, which has garnered a reputation for featuring larger-than-life celebrities who manage to cause a storm of controversy while in the house.
This summer’s token celebrity removal came in the form of Christopher Biggins, who was at one point the favourite to win the entire series, however he was removed amid comments that he allegedly made about bisexual people and the AIDS epidemic.

These conversations were aired on the Channel 5 nightly show, but reports also leaked that he had made equally controversial remarks about the Jewish community and Auschwitz.
These comments were never aired, nor were they addressed by Channel 5, leaving viewers asking questions about selective editing.
Celebrity Big Brother airs nightly on Channel 5 at 9pm.
