Broadchurch filming in jeopardy as key location set for demolition
A KEY location in the hit ITV crime drama Broadchurch is set to be dismantled, threatening the filming of the next series.
The chalet was a murder scene in the drama
The wooden chalet perched on cliffs in Dorset was a murder scene in the drama but is in danger from coastal erosion, and the owners want to re-erect it 100 yards inland.
Series three is to be filmed in the summer and producers may be forced into rethinking their locations.
Edward Dyke, of property agents Symonds & Sampson, said: "The chalet is getting closer and closer to the cliff edge."
If the plans receive permission, the owner wants to act "relatively soon". The owners of other chalets say the new location would be a "travesty".
The chalet could fall victim to coastal erosion soon
Producers have had to rush to start filming season three before the building is demolished
We are extremely distressed. It would stick out like a sore thumb
One, Adrian Burnett, said: "We are extremely distressed. It would stick out like a sore thumb."
Becca Overton, who created a fans' Facebook page, said: "When you look at the chalet, you think of Broadchurch." ITV said: "It's too early to discuss locations."
Other chalet owners are not happy about the re-location
