Emmerdale's Lucy Pargeter says Chas needs 'professional help' after stabbing Diane
LUCY PARGETER has opened up about the dramatic stabbing incident that will turn her character Chas's friendship with Diane on its head.
Chas crosses the line when she stabs Diane
Chas, convinced she has a stalker, wakes up in the night and hears what she assumes to be an intruder downstairs.
Armed with a knife, she follows the sound downstairs and lunges at the culprit - only to realise it's her close pal, played by Liz Estensen.
"She thinks Emma is coming to get her – and if it’s not Emma, it’s somebody else," Pargeter told Soaplife.
"The mystery stalker is downstairs and Chas fears for her life. She goes to investigate and takes the knife with her to defend herself.

She has been through a lot and it has got to a point where her family can’t help her any more
"When she gets downstairs, she hears something and instinct kicks in. She thinks, ‘It’s them or me’ and lunges forward… stabbing Diane!”
On the fallout, she continued: "Chas is horrified to see Diane fall to the floor with a knife wound. She can’t believe what she’s done.
"She tries to stop the bleeding and calls Aaron. He and Cain turn up and Chas runs away. She’s in a panic and Cain goes after her.”
Viewers have seen Chas become and more unstable in recent weeks, and Pargeter thinks the time has come for something to be done.
“She has been through a lot and it has got to a point where her family can’t help her any more. She needs some serious professional help," she explained.
