Mexican Food Made Simple
MASTERCHEF 2005 winner and Wahaca restaurant chain owner Thomasina Miers seeks spicy dishes as she travels around Mexico sampling its food and culture.
This week she comes up with guacamole served with pork scratchings, a fruity Mexican chilli and a raspberry sorbet not for the faint-hearted. Tommi starts in Oaxaca, gauging what the city’s food lovers make of British pork scratchings compared with the Mexican variety, some of which are as big as bathmats. She also invites three police officers to lunch and meets a man who formed a company to export mezcal, a cousin of tequila made from the spiky agave plant. Wisely claiming to be pregnant, Tommi abstains from sampling. New series.
