Fans have raved about a series that received a higher Rotten Tomatoes score compared to Jane Austen's BBC series Pride and Prejudice, which received a solid 88% and it's not The Other Bennet Sister. BBC viewers heaped praise on a new period drama inspired by Jane Austen's timeless novel Pride and Prejudice.

The Other Bennet Sister was written by Jane Hudlow, with the historical fiction topping the charts in 2020. The BBC period drama was released in May and holds an impressive score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. It is widely celebrated by fans and considered a worthy companion to the classic Austen novels.

But anoter period drama which first aired 18 years ago has been considered a superior option. The TV series Little Dorrit is based on the best-selling novel by Charles Dickens.

The screenplay was written by Andrew Davies, and the episodes were directed by Adam Smith, Dearbhla Walsh, and Diarmuid Lawrence. Claire Foy and Matthew Macfadyen star in the series.

The series' synopsis reads: "Little Dorrit is a period drama adapted from Charles Dickens' novel, following the Dorrit family's experiences in 1820s London. The story centres on Amy 'Little' Dorrit, who was born and raised in the Marshalsea debtors' prison and works as a seamstress to support her family.

The series explores themes of debt, social class, and the complexities of family relationships, particularly as they intersect with the wealthy Clennam family."

One reviewer gushed: "Absolutely perfect in every way. I rewatch it every so often and it's always terrific. Such a great story!"

Another echoed: "A very good miniseries, I wish it had gone on longer. A bit of suspense, intrigue & romance. What more could you need?"

"Great acting, great story, Charles Dickens is a great author and it shows in this miniseries. Kept my attention the whole way through," a third commented.

"BBC hits another mark again with this excellent production and adaptation of Dickens' lesser known work. Such a complex story so inevitably some plotholes, but all in all a satisfying miniseries," a fourth gushed.
