GB News issues huge King Charles update ahead of Donald Trump US visit

GB News Royal correspondent Cameron Walker gave a huge update about King Charles state visit to the US as the monarch and wife Queen Camilla get set to touch down in America on Monday April 27. The visit has proved contentious, given President Donald Trump's recent remarks about Keir Starmer over the latter's reticence to involve the UK in the Iran conflict.

Walker confirmed the King and Queen's trip is going ahead as planned and they will visit Washington DC, New York and Virginia during their visit, explaining: "This is a state visit that has been in the planning for a very long time. Long before the very public spat between President Trump and Prime Minister Starmer. The British Ambassador to the UK, Christian Turner, has told us that the UK-US partnership stretches far beyond the governments of the day. Its foundations are shared history, shared sacrifice and common values and friendship, he says. In other words, it doesn't matter who occupies the White House or Number 10 Downing Street. It is about celebrating 250 years of American independence with a King who is above politics," he said.

He continued: "Having said that, British sources here in Washington tell me that President Trump leads a very Anglophile administration - far more so than the previous administration under President Biden.

"The British government wants the King to use his soft power to highlight business trade and investment, billions of dollars worth, highlighting our shared defence and intelligence ties dating back way before the Iran conflict started. And people too people ties to.

"That's the culture that binds us together, but it won't be smooth sailing for the King, who is going to have to navigate a President who clearly has differences of opinion with the Labour government.

"Then there's Epstein. There was a rally outside the White House to remember the life of Virginia Giuffre, who accused the King's brother Andrew of sexual assault, he has always denied the allegations," he said, cutting to a clip from the rally. Highlighting one potential issue Charles faces on the trip, he said: "Epstein survivors have repeatedly asked for King Charles to meet them while he is here in Washington DC.

"Royal sources tell me the King is unable to do that for legal reasons [and] that's an excuse that's not really gone down well over here in the United States, which could well mean protests are on the horizon," he predicted.

"Could that overshadow what King Charles has to say to Congress on Tuesday?" she further speculated.

Following the assasination attempt on President Trump at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, on Saturday, April 25, Walker also pondered security for their majesties. Suspected gunman Cole Tomas Allen, 31, of Torrance, California, stormed the event at Washington DC's Hilton Hotel, shooting one officer in the chest before being apprehended.

"What security is available for the King and Queen because on Saturday there was a third attempt on President Trump's life," he asked. "But the message from the Palace seems to be Keep Calm and Carry on. Apart from a few minor tweaks, the state visit is going ahead as planned."
