Dr Mehmet Oz, a TV doctor and adviser to Donald Trump's administration, has issued an update on the US president's health in a blunt admission. It comes as the 79-year-old has faced scrutiny about various medical conditions from bruised hands, peeling scabs and swollen ankles. In addition, the president has been vocal about only sleeping four to five hours per night.

Dr Oz, who is administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service, spoke to host Miranda Devine this week, when he was questioned about Trump's health. The presenter suggested if there were any concerns about the president's lack of sleep that could affect him.

Host Miranda remarked, "He's 79. That's a huge job. He doesn't sleep. He seems to have lots of stamina. What is it about him that allows him to keep going?

"Is it a worry that maybe he needs to lose more weight, or do more exercise, or sleep more?"

In a six-word bombshell, Dr Oz confirmed "Trump is healthy as a bull".

Speaking on the Pod Force One, he continued: "I think his success to longevity as well as good health is his incredible passion for what he is doing. He believes 110% in the things he is doing.

"That's an infectious process. And he's always there for you."

Speculation surrounding Trump's health flared last year when photographs appeared to show mysterious red marks and bruising on his hands, which he appeared to try and conceal on at least one occasion with makeup.

The White House announced in July that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition which affects how veins pump blood to the heart.

Earlier this month, Trump was spotted with a dark red patch on his neck during a Medal of Honour ceremony at the White House.

White House physician Sean Barbabella quickly addressed the speculation, explaining: "President Trump is using a very common cream on the right side of his neck, which is a preventative skin treatment, prescribed by the White House Doctor. The President is using this treatment for one week, and the redness is expected to last for a few weeks."
