Channel 4 has announced the launch date for the second series of Big Mood, while also releasing a brand new trailer offering a glimpse at the forthcoming episodes.

Big Mood captured the hearts of viewers when the debut series aired in 2024, with Bridgerton and Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlan, alongside Lydia West from It's a Sin, headlining the show in the lead roles.

The series followed the lives of Maggie and Eddie, who had been inseparable for ten years, yet their friendship reached a critical crossroads when Maggie's bipolar disorder emerged and Eddie began to question whether their bond could withstand the strain.

Reflecting on the original series, Nicola revealed: "I think one of the things I knew that was important to me is that even though the show deals with difficult stuff, Camilla (Whitehill) said it's a comedy.

"It's so brilliantly balanced by how much you have these proper laugh out loud moments and then the next scene, you're crying."

"I love that it felt very true to her voice. It's also very much in the vernacular of how her and I and our friends speak to one another, so it felt very real."

Channel 4 has now unveiled both the trailer and broadcast date for the second series of Big Mood, once again starring Nicola Coughlan and Lydia West. The six-episode run will premiere on Channel 4 on Thursday April 16.

Returning cast members include Nicola Coughlan, Lydia West, Robert Gilbert, Eamon Farren, Niamh Cusack, Amalia Vitale, Luke Fetherston, Rebecca Lowman, Stephen Sobal and Kate Fleetwood.

New to series two are Rupert Everett, Hannah Onslow, Robert Lindsay, Marina Bye, Marcus Collins, Munroe Bergdorf, Kyran Thrax, Lois Chimimba, Kelly Campbell, Leo Wan, Zachary Hart and John Locke.

Channel 4 has offered a tantalising glimpse at the plot: "It's been a year since Maggie (Nicola Coughlan) and Eddie (Lydia West) last saw each other, without any contact between the best friends.

"When Eddie suddenly returns for a wedding, she isn't alone - Maggie has competition, in the form of an infuriatingly positive spiritual healer named Whitney. Can Maggie and her special brand of chaos find space in Eddie's new life? Or will Maggie lose Eddie forever?"

Season two of Big Mood will premiere on Channel 4 on 16 April.
