A much-loved star in reportedly in secret talks for major Strictly comeback.
Secret talks are said to be under way over a Strictly Come Dancing shake-up — with a much-loved star tipped for a major BBC return. Comedian Miranda Hart is understood to have held secret discussions about joining the show, with producers eyeing her as a possible replacement for Claudia Winkleman. The move would see Miranda step into the Clauditorium role — the iconic balcony spot where contestants unwind after performing. A source told The Sun: “Miranda signing for Strictly would be a massive coup for the BBC.”
They added that her comedy style closely mirrors Claudia’s, explaining: “The feeling is that her style of comedy is very similar to Claudia’s sense of humour, making her a perfect replacement.” Miranda’s name carries serious weight with audiences — something bosses are clearly banking on. The source said: “She’s also one of the very few people in the entertainment world who is widely known and recognised by just her first name.”
Claudia, who stepped away from the show alongside co-host Tess Daly last year, was a fan favourite thanks to her relaxed, humorous chats with nervous celebrities.
Producers are now said to be looking for someone who can bring that same energy back to the format.
The insider added: “Bosses talked about Miranda working with the main presenters but her job would be talking to the celebs, dancers and judges.”
They continued: “They want someone who can bring a comedy element to the role. Miranda has been loyal to the BBC throughout her TV career.”
The potential signing would mark a major return for Miranda, who has not been a regular fixture on television for more than a decade.
She became a household name through her hit sitcom Miranda, which ran from 2009 to 2015, and later starred as Chummy in Call The Midwife.

During the 2024 series, she was frequently spotted supporting close friend Sarah Hadland, who competed alongside Vito Coppola.
She has also previously joked about joining the line-up herself, saying: “The menopausal mounds in this body is not ready for any sort of dancefloor let alone on national television. No one is ready for that.”
Strictly bosses are said to be planning a wider presenter refresh for the next series, with multiple new faces expected to join the line-up.
A BBC spokesperson said: “Plans for Strictly Come Dancing 2026 will be confirmed in due course.”
