Period drama fanatics shouldn’t miss out on this “beautiful” series that rivals the likes of Bridgerton, Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice.

Released earlier this month, Seeking Persephone on Prime Video is a four-part adaptation of author Sarah M Eden’s beloved 2008 novel and it'is perfect for fans of The Other Bennet Sister which now airs on BBC One.

The limited series is a Regency-era historical romance about Persephone Lancaster (played by Ryann Bailey) who marries the feared Adam Boyce, Duke of Kielder (Jake Stormoen), to save her family from financial ruin.

She moves to his cold and isolated castle, trying to get to know the Duke on a deeper level as he attempts to keep his distance from his new wife.

With its Beauty and the Beast style storyline, it’s no wonder that fans cannot stop raving about the newly released romantic drama.

“A beautiful new historical romance miniseries the whole family can enjoy.”

Describing it as “beautiful and captivating”, a second echoed: “I love that it is tasteful and wholesome without being boring.

“I have watched it four times now, and have loved it each time.”

As another, who says it’s the “best thing I have ever seen”, passionately remarked: “This is my favourite [period] drama.

“It’s better than Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility...it’s got everything you want in a period drama, I recommend it 100%!”

At the heart of Seeking Persephone as the titular character herself is relative newcomer Ryann Bailey whose credits include Mythica: Stormbound, Love Switch, Forgiveness Girl and 1 More Round.

She is joined by her former Mythica co-star Jake Stormoen as Adam Boyce, with the star also remembered for playing Captain Garret Spears in the fantasy drama The Outpost.

Other cast members include EastEnders actor Toby-Alexander Smith as Harry Windover, An American in Austen’s Catherine Hannay as Athena and Spinning Out star Will Kemp as Richard.

Seeking Persephone is available to watch on Prime Video.
