Nine incidents that prove BBC Question Time needs to be taken off air
BBC Question Time has sparked fury with viewers - and the bias row it's involved in isn't going away.
Time for the chop?

The accusations of bias against BBC’s flagship politics show Question Time aren’t going anywhere.
When it comes to how “overwhelmingly left-wing” the programme is, viewers had plenty to say – and even left host Fiona Bruce speechless at one point.
(Image: BBC)There’s also been fury from the left, with Green Party supporters fuming that Reform UK were given slots in the run-up to a crucial by-election when the Greens were not.
So is it time to take the show off-air for good? Plenty of viewers seem to think so.

Migrant plants

In December 2025, Question Time aired an “immigration special” – but conspiracy theories soon started to form that illegal migrants had been “planted” in the audience.
Reform UK’s Richard Tice was fuming as he spotted one of the men in the audience wearing a “headset”, accusing the BBC of “coaching” him. Tice fumed at the time: “Did BBC QT give headset and coaching to this Channel illegal migrant?
“He then has the cheek to tell us, British taxpayers, that we must not leave the ECHR… could not make it up.”

However, a BBC spokesperson told the Express at the time: “This is a ridiculous suggestion and completely false. These were simply a pair of headphones he forgot to take off."
They added: “We spoke to the contributors beforehand to ask them about their experiences, but no one was briefed about what to say during the show.”

Many Question Time fans were left baffled when celebrity chef Tom Kerridge appeared as a panellist on the show in February 2026.
The star addressed whether Britain is succeeding in reducing youth unemployment and confronted the rising business rates hitting UK venues – but baffled viewers wondered what he was doing on a politics programme.
One fumed on social media: “Tom Kerridge on Question Time? Why do we listen to this sh*?! Another reason why QT is absolutely rubbish now.”
Another said: “Tom Kerridge is a media chef; he’s entitled to an opinion but has no idea on this issue, I bet he’s the beneficiary of cheaper foreign labour as well.”
However, others chimed in to support the chef, with one posting: “I’ve - perhaps unsurprisingly - never given Tom Kerridge’s political opinions much thought, but props to him to have the courage of his convictions to be unequivocal in his support for immigration as a net positive.”

Host Fiona Bruce was left without a clue what to say when she finally realised just how left-wing her Question Time audience was.
Earlier in March 2026, she asked the audience to vote whether the Iran-US war is “a war Britain should be getting involved with”.
Only around six audience members raised their hands, with Fiona left spluttering: “Okay, a handful I would say, not many.”
