Midsomer Murders star Neil Dudgeon recalls far-fetched plot
Midsomer Murders will be back later this month - and some very famous faces have joined the cast. Joining Neil Dudgeon and Nick Hendrix in the episode titled Book of the Dead will be Rhashan Stone, who plays Joel Myhill.
Rhashan has appeared in several dramas before, including Hollingdon Drive, All About Eve, and Black Mirror. However, he also played the detective DI Laurence Breeze in the BBC's Keeping Faith.
Other big names include Sally Lindsay, who plays Danica Trask and Oliver Dimsdale as Rev Sebastian Butts. Jon Culshaw is also part of the star-studded cast, playing Bertram Jewel.
Series 24 episode one, titled The Devil’s Work, will be shown on Monday, December 29 at 8.30pm. Episode two, titled Book of the Dead, will be shown the following day, on December 30, at the same time.
Fans will be thrilled to learn that Neil will be back at the helm to play Detective Barnaby, with Nick as his sidekick, Detective Sergeant Jamie Winter. Annette Badland will also reprise her role as Dr. Fleur Perkins.

A short synopsis for the episode Book of the Dead reads, "When the author of a book which sparked a nationwide treasure hunt is found dead, Barnaby must unravel the clues to find the killer among a group of dedicated seekers."
When speaking about his guest role in the ITV drama, Jon explained he jumped at the chance to be part of it.
"Ahh, the invitation to join the Midsomer team was one I jumped at without hesitation," he exclaimed. "Despite the murderous tales there’s a glow about the show. It’s well loved and the audience trust that they’re going to be served a wonderful story from it.
"The crew and cast really are the most wonderful group of people! It’s a graceful and well-running machine, sure of itself, and that translates into the show on screen."
"It was a fantastic on-set experience! All the cast were wonderful! Shaun Dooley was amazing to watch as an actor," Jon said about the guest cast.
"His instincts and reactions. Sally Lindsay was as funny and insightful as ever. Omid is always a joy to be around. We’ve done many shows together over the years.
"Annette Badland is superb with all the forensic expertise! She brings a charm and warmth to even those most complicated of matters. I‘d never worked with Neil Dudgeon before, but we’d briefly said hello a few years back at an audio drama awards. It was great to have chance to work with him."
He added, "He brings such a sense of surety and calm strength to Inspector Barnaby. Warmth and wit too. That’s how to solve things!"
Midsomer Murders returns later this month on ITV.
