Run Away official Netflix trailer with James Nesbitt

A gripping Netflix drama is set to arrive, and eagle-eyed fans were quick to recognise a Gavin and Stacey star in the newly unveiled trailer.

Bestselling author Harlan Coben returns with yet another Netflix adaptation of one of his acclaimed novels, this time bringing his 2019 book Run Away to the screen.

Simon Greene (portrayed by James Nesbitt) enjoys an idyllic family life until his eldest daughter Paige Greene (Ellie de Lange) disappears, leaving her relatives heartbroken.

Half a year later, Simon discovers Paige living rough and battling drug addiction, but a confrontation results in "shocking violence" and he loses contact with her once more. Can he rescue his daughter?

Netflix unveiled the official trailer for Run Away on Monday, December 1, showcasing both the compelling storyline and its stellar ensemble.

The trailer opens with Simon and his family joyfully supporting Paige on her first day at university.

However, the scene quickly shifts to Paige shouting at her parents before fleeing, and when Simon encounters her again, she's busking with visible bruising on her face.

The preview also hints at the murder of Paige's boyfriend Aaron Corval, but the question remains: who was behind his brutal killing?

The trailer concludes with Simon lamenting: "I just need to find her and bring her home."

Taking on the role of Simon Greene is Cold Feet and Bloodlands star James Nesbitt, whilst Gavin and Stacey's Ruth Jones appears as private investigator Elena Ravenscroft.

However, it's the fleeting appearance of Detective Isaac Fagbenle that's caught fans' attention, as he's brought to life by Alfred Enoch.

Enoch is perhaps most recognisable for his portrayal of Dean in the Harry Potter films, alongside his role as Wes Gibbins in the legal drama How To Get Away With Murder.

Flocking to YouTube's comments section, one enthusiastic viewer declared: "Alfred Enoch! I'm watching.

"Is that Wes Gibbins?" another queried, whilst a third remarked: "The kid who played Dean in Harry Potter grew up to be such a good looking guy. A hero type person, tall, dark and handsome."

Meanwhile, other fans were simply delighted by the prospect of another Harlan Coben adaptation, with one posting: "Anything done by Harlan Cobin I'm watching! British dramas and mysteries are [fire emoji].

"New Year, new banger," one viewer enthused, whilst another concurred: "Looks amazing! Got chills.

"Chilling and intense. I need to watch this the second it drops," admitted one fan, as another succinctly declared: "Harlan Coben? I'm there."

Run Away premieres on New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1, 2026, on Netflix.
