Fortune Hotel winners discuss sharing their prize money

The Fortune Hotel winners Nella and Tope have shared their prize money with their co-stars after a cancer diagnosis.

Following a gripping series that was packed with dramatic twists, the London duo emerged victorious at the conclusion of Friday's (August 26) finale, securing an enormous £200,000 prize.

Presented by Stephen Mangan, the final episode witnessed Nella and Tope battle against couple Fred and Min and mother-daughter pair Martina and Briony.

Nella and Tope discreetly triumphed in the hotel competition and claimed victory in the day trip challenge, solidifying their position before the final Lady Luck Bar.

Following both rival teams' decisions to retain their briefcases, Nella and Tope exchanged with Fred and Min, who held the cash prize, reports the Mirror.

The duo generously donated £5,000 to Briony and Martina to put towards Briony's fertility treatment plans, and the winners have now disclosed another touching act of generosity.

In a pre-filmed chat with Good Morning Britain, broadcast on Monday (September 1), the pair confirmed they had donated £10,000 to previous co-contestants James and Yasmine to support James' son during his cancer battle.

"We are going to meet James Jr soon. He's doing really well," Nella said.

"He got his bloods back, he has to always check his bloods to see if everything's okay, and it's all clear, there's no cancer cells."

The couple also discussed sharing their prize money with Briony, who has joked that she will name her future baby after the pair.

"I mean, if she does that that will be great. We didn't know that she was going to do that so that's a lovely surprise," Nella said.

Tope added: "Women out there do struggle to have children. They suffer in silence in a way and it's not necessarily their fault at all.

"We felt that we wanted to help her and that will definitely go towards being the mother that she should be."

During the programme, Nella notably became tearful as she disclosed her desire to use the funds to bring her mother from Malawi to the UK.

"The best thing for me would be to have her here, to try and bring her into the UK. But that process is not easy. Last time I saw here was before Covid, so it's like five years now," she explained, whilst Tope expressed that he "can't wait" to meet his future mother-in-law.
