TV fans slam 'disappointing outcome' as huge series axed
Fans of Dexter: Original Sin have been left devastated as the prequel series has been axed just a few months after a second season was announced.

Dexter enthusiasts have been left heartbroken as a much-anticipated prequel series has been cancelled, despite an announcement of a second season.
Dexter: Original Sin's debut series was a massive success when it premiered in December 2024, becoming Showtime's most-streamed premiere ever at the time of its release.
Set in the nineties, the prequel delved into the origins of serial killer Dexter Morgan, who was first introduced to viewers in the long-standing crime series Dexter.
However, Variety has reported that Paramount has now reversed its decision to proceed with a second series, just months after it was announced in April.
Paramount is reportedly now considering a second season of the Dexter sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection, as well as the spin-off Dexter: New Blood. Both feature Michael C. Hall reprising his role as the titular killer, while the now-scrapped prequel starred Patrick Gibson as Dexter, with Hall only serving as a narrator, reports the Mirror.

Original Sin also boasted a star-studded supporting cast, including Christian Slater (Mr Robot, Blink Twice), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy, Cruel Intentions) and Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy, Enchanted).
Reacting to the cancellation news, one disgruntled fan exclaimed: "Ugh, and the cast was so good! Specially Paddy as Dexter. Maybe this cast can appear on Dexter: Resurrection as flashbacks."
One disgruntled viewer labelled it a "horrible decision", stating: "I don't see Dexter: Resurrection being as good as this because Dexter: New Blood was a** let's keep it lit. Seeing the past was a better concept."

Another fan of the show expressed their disappointment, saying it was "hard to replace the original" series, while another wrote: "I'm a huge Dexter fan...but I'm not mad at this. I'd watch it if continued, but I feel it diluted the series. Resurrection is GREAT!"
A fan of the prequel shared their disappointment with the outcome, saying: "Really liked the cast and with the success of Resurrection, disappointing outcome," while another lamented: "Wow, that's actually sad."
They added: "There could have been more story to be told, and the one character I was hoping to see was Captain Thomas Matthew and to see more of how Dexter adapts as a killer. Also, I thought Patrick Gibson did an outstanding job playing a younger Dexter Morgan."
All eight seasons of Dexter are available to stream on Netflix while Dexter: Original Sin is streaming now on Paramount+
