Devotees of Liam Payne have been asking the same thing as the initial instalments of his last television endeavour, Building The Band, hit the screens. The ex-One Direction star had completed filming for the Netflix series just weeks before he died in October last year.

He died in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after falling from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room. Not long before this, Liam had been involved in filming segments for the show with icons Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child fame.

The 31-year-old focused on guiding new talents and imparting wisdom, driven by his deep passion for music mentorship.

Today marks the unveiling of the first four episodes on the streaming giant. At the start of the show, there is a poignant homage by host, Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean.

And Nicole Scherzinger is the only host named in the show's credits, suggesting Liam's appearances are reserved for future segments of the series, reports the Mirror.

One follower took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice confusion and anticipation: "I didn't know that all four episodes of building the band were available, I thought only ep 1 is released. Is Liam in any one of them, or is he in the episodes that are gonna be released on the 16th?".

Another commented: "The tribute to Liam Payne at the start of Building The Band is lovely, don't get me wrong. But I expected to see a bit more of him in the clips."

A third tweeted: "Building the Band has already premiered, and in these first 4 episodes, Liam hasn't appeared yet, but there is a small tribute at the beginning.

"We will see Li as a judge in the second part, which premieres on JULY 16, the day that marks 9 months since the worst tragedy. I won't be able to handle it."

Following this, showrunner Cat Lawson lauded Liam for his participation in the series.

She said: "The show is dedicated to Liam. We all loved him and he was amazing in the show," and continued by sharing the impact of his passing last year on those who collaborated with him, stating: "You get to know people really quickly [on these shows] and he was a glorious person."

At the onset of the show, host and Backstreet Boys idol AJ McLean delivered an emotional homage to Liam. He declared: "When we came together to film Building The Band, we never imagined we'd soon be saying goodbye to our friend, Liam Payne.

"Liam is a guest judge in later episodes and through his presence, we see his deep love for music and his unwavering commitment to helping others find their voice. It's through that spirit that we dedicate this series to Liam and his family."
