QT: Fiona Bruce raises issue of Andrew Tate's arrival in Florida

Fiona Bruce fans said they “never expected” to hear the BBC host using a particularly “horrid” five-letter word while describing anatomy during the latest instalment of Question Time. On Thursday’s episode (March 20) of the long-running chat show, the 60-year-old discussed whether boys and young men are in a ‘state of crisis’ with the panel. Amid the conversation, Fiona mentioned the fact Andrew Tate, 38, and his brother Tristan Tate, 36, had recently arrived in Florida from Romania.

The pair - who deny all allegations of rape, trafficking minors and money laundering - have spent more than two years in custody or under house arrest after previously being banned from leaving Europe. Discussing the Tates’ arrival in Fort Lauderdale on a private jet last month, Fiona asked Greg Swanson, Chairman of Republican Overseas UK, whether the Republicans were indeed “very happy” to have the siblings in the country. “The President wants to reach out to everybody,” replied Swanson.

“I’m not defending Andrew Tate,” he continued after his statement received audible backlash from the Question Time audience. “Let’s be clear: what did the President do? He welcomed him to Mar-a-Lago or welcomed to Washington?” Fiona responded, discussing how the pair misogynistic pair had arrived in the US from Bucharest. "There are suggestions that members of the administration went over to Romania and the next thing he's on a flight to the US,” she said.

"I don't know…The President is a different type of politician. He wants to appeal to young people…He goes through different channels to do that,” Swanson countered." I don’t know much about Andrew. I of course know who the Tate brothers are… This is classic Trump derangement syndrome. Trump said a bad word two years ago so now it’s ‘Trump is a misogynist’, you know?”

“What do you mean?,” the BBC host queried. “When he talked about grabbing women by the p***y?” Swanson admitted that although it was "Not a good moment” his numbers went up three points. He finished: “The voters care about their issues. This Election, it was the open border and it was the economy and inflation.“No one is hiring President Trump to be their minister or their daughter’s boyfriend.”

Question Time viewers were quick to debate the conversation, taking particular note of Fiona’s four-letter anatomy outburst “Yes, Fiona Bruce really did just say that on #BBCQT tonight,” said one person on X. “Never expected to hear that from her #BBCQuestionTime #QuestionTime.” A second responded: “Did she really have to say it horrid term to describe anatomy by Trump or anyone.” A third typed: “It’s horrific, the scale of Tate’s influence in the wake of overwhelming evidence of the reality, it’s the same with Trump, and on a smaller scale Reform who fail to vet their candidates. Yeah sure, let’s not oppose these men and their revolting actions.”

On March 5, Florida launched a criminal investigation into the British-American influencers. Florida's attorney general, James Uthmeier, claimed investigators had issued search warrants and subpoenas as part of a "now-active" inquiry, as per BBC.

"Last week, I directed my office to work with our law enforcement partners to conduct a preliminary inquiry into Andrew and Tristan Tate,” said the Republican. "Based on a thorough review of the evidence, I've directed the Office of Statewide Prosecution to execute search warrants and issue subpoenas in the now-active criminal investigation into the Tate brothers."
