BBC Breakfast has faced a huge shake-up to its presenting line-up as one host went missing from the show.

During Tuesday's programme, regular host Jon Kay was absent from the couch, leaving Sally Nugent to present alongside Ben Thompson. The BBC show has undergone several changes in recent weeks, with Sally being replaced by Sarah Campbell multiple times.

Ben has also filled in for Jon on more than one occasion, including an appearance in July that drew a wave of social media complaints after a controversial interview.

Ben and co-host Sally sat down with Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves this week. However, fans criticised the interview segment as "disgraceful and disappointing," claiming that Ben addressed the politician in an "aggressive tone".

The Chancellor appeared on the current affairs programme to discuss her decision to end winter fuel payments to millions of pensioners not receiving pension credit or other means-tested benefits, among other topics.

After noticing the presenter shake-up, one viewer expressed their frustration, tweeting: “#BBCBreakfast I'm gutted Ben is back with his "Err.. erm" after every word, please teach him how to talk.”

Another joked about Jon's unexplained absence, quipping: “Dad joke Jon having an easy week.”

However, on today’s BBC Breakfast, fans "switched off" after Keir Starmer made an unexpected appearance on the show. The live interview occurred ahead of a weekly meeting with his Cabinet, just over two weeks before the Autumn Budget.

But viewers were left less than pleased with his segment. One wrote: "Not a good start to my day...poured a coffee sat down to watch the news and Starmer was on...good job the remote was close at hand @bbcbreakfast."

A second complained: "@sallynugent @BBCBreakfast @BBCOne @BBCNews Decent to give a warning so the remaining viewers can switch off."

While a third fumed: "@BBCBreakfast why are you giving #Starmer any air time #StarmerOut he’s making a fool of this country."
