Jeremy Clarkson shares ‘main reason’ for quitting Grand Tour in furious rant

The Grand Tour has returned for one final adventure, this time in Zimbabwe, and revealed one of the factors that convinced him the motoring series needs to come to an end.

Jeremy Clarkson unleashes a furious rant in the latest and last episode of The Grand Tour, explaining a key reason he wanted to end the Amazon Prime Video series.

The Top Gear follow-up’s final outing follows Jeremy, Richard Hammond and James May embarking on a daring cross-country trek through Zimbabwe in three classic cars.

Richard chooses a Ford Capri 3-litre and has trouble with his exhaust along the way, while James is sitting pretty in his Triumph Stag.

Meanwhile, Jeremy was particularly happy with his Lancia Montecarlo and is seen listening appreciatively to the engine at one point in the episode.

“Some popping and banging nicely from the back,” he says to the camera. “Love that sound.”

However, the notoriously opinionated presenter soon turned irate when his mind turned to modern cars.

“And all you lot growing up today with your electric cars, you’re never going to hear it,” he continued.

As more drivers may start opting for the supposedly more environmentally friendly electric models, Jeremy and the team might struggle to find an audience in Prime Video’s younger streamers.

“There are lots of reasons why we’re jacking this show in, but, for me, one of the main ones is I’m simply not interested in electric cars,” he continued.

“They are just white goods, they’re washing machines, they’re microwave ovens.

“You can’t review those, you can’t enjoy them. They are just s**t.”

Thankfully, Jeremy isn’t totally disappearing from our screens as he has at least one more installment of Clarkson’s Farm still to come.

Earlier this year, the presenter was overjoyed to discover the sales of battery-powered cars were dropping.

Writing in his column for the Sun, he said the decline was down to “people being carpet-bombed and brainwashed every day by lefty green organisations like the BBC.

“But it’s mostly because people are waking up to the fact electric cars are expensive, boring to drive, useless for long journeys and, if we are honest, not especially good for the environment.”

The Grand Tour: One For the Road is available to stream on Prime Video.
