BBC Morning Live star forced to apologise as he abandons co-host live on-air

BBC Morning Live presenter Gethin Jones was left red-faced after he was scolded by his co-host Michelle Ackerley for abandoning the set.

BBC Breakfast cuts to Gethin Jones on Morning Live

BBC Morning Live hit a slight hiccup as co-host Gethin Jones had to issue an on-air apology after hilariously missing his cue during a teaser that was interrupting BBC Breakfast.

Gethin, alongside presenter Michelle Ackerley, wanted to give audiences a sneak peek of what to expect from Wednesday's show (August 28) but he almost missed the spotlighthastily sliding into frame just in time to sit down.

BBC Breakfast anchor Sally Nugent had smoothly tee'd up the segment, saying: "Morning Live follows Breakfast on BBC One this morning and they're actually talking about breakfast, I believe! Morning Michelle, morning Geth!"

A slightly flustered Gethin managed a quick: "Good morning to you!" Meanwhile, Michelle seized the opportunity to tease him, informing Sally: "He's only just got here, Sally, honestly."

A mock-serious Sally couldn't resist jabbing: "Nice of you to join us!" while Gethin sheepishly asked: "Are we on?" prompting Michelle to rebuke him with "We're live! What are you doing?", reports Wales Online.

Sally couldn't hide her curiosity, prodding further: "What happened then?" Gethin gamely replied: "I don't know. I was just putting things away. I was tidying up, actually."

To which Sally quipped back: "You were posting pictures of yourself, weren't you? That's what you were doing."

But Gethin had a retort up his sleeve, jesting: "I was messaging you! Did you get it?" All the while, an increasingly impatient Michelle declared: "Shall we crack on?"

Caught between humour and humiliation, Gethin concluded with a bashful apology to those tuning in: "Yeah I think we should, sorry about that."

It all unfolded after Sally posed a "dangerous" question on air, prompting Ben to jokingly forewarn: "We're going to regret this."

While discussing the antics of dog agility courses, Sally beckoned viewers: "Have you got a dog with any interesting skills? We would love to hear from you! " However, Ben quipped in: "We're so going to regret this."

Acknowledging the risks, Sally conceded: "Pretty dangerous question. I don't know why we're asking that, but.."

Nevertheless, Ben was encouraging, urging: "But do send them in! " Sally quickly added clarity for the enthusiastic viewers, saying: "Any good tricks, basically. Send us a message, a photo the details are on your screen right now of your dog maybe doing a particularly clever trick. Or being obedient!"
