Amazon Prime’s The Boys wowed fans with the release of its season 4 finale today - but the show was also forced to issue a content warning due to “coincidental and unintentional” similarities to the assassination attempt recently made on former US President Donald Trump.

Season 4, episode 8 certainly thrilled viewers, but it also stirred a bit of controversy due to its presidential assassination storyline, which was written a year before the tragic events that happened at the election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania last weekend.

In a sign of solidarity against all real-life political violence, The Boys season 4 finale opened with a content advisory when the episode debuted today.

The warning read: “This episode contains scenes of fictional political violence. Any similarities to recent events are completely coincidental and unintentional.

“Prime Video, Amazon MGM Studios, Sony Pictures Television and the producers of The Boys oppose, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind.”

A similar warning was also posted to Instagram by The Boys and Prime Video, adding that the show “is a fictitious series that was filmed in 2023, and any scene or plotline similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional.”

Amazon also changed the original episode title from “Assassination Run” to “Season Four Finale.”

Season 4 of The Boys has seen the team attempt to prevent the assassination of President-Elect of the United States Robert Singer.

This is because it would allow Homelander and his allies to then place super-abled Vice President-Elect Victoria Neuman in the White House top job as their political puppet.

The episode description reads: “It’s January 6th as Congress certifies the election results to officially make Bob Singer President and Victoria Neuman his VP.

“Meanwhile, The Boys try to protect Singer from assassination, not realising that the assassin is closer than they think.”

It comes after shots were fired at a Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.

While Trump only sustained a minor injury to his ear, one attendee was killed and two other attendees were critically injured.

The suspected shooter, who has been identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was immediately shot dead by members of the U.S. Secret Service counterassault team, according to reports.
