Dermot O'Leary pauses This Morning for 'breaking news'

Dermot O'Leary abruptly interrupted This Morning's regular programming to deliver some "breaking news" to viewers.

The 51-year-old host was once again back on the iconic blue sofa alongside co-host Alison Hammond on Thursday (July 18), ready to bring the latest instalment of the beloved ITV daytime show.

Just before they were due to chat with McDonald and Dodds stars Tala Gouveia and Jason Watkins, who portray DCA Lauren McDonald and DS Dodds respectively, Dermot brought the show to a momentary standstill to herald the return of the hit series as "breaking news".

Alison struggled to keep her composure, bursting into giggles as Dermot made the announcement, just moments before inviting their guests onto the show to talk about the upcoming new series.

Fans of the Bath-based detective drama can rejoice as it makes its comeback for a fourth season, promising three feature-length films each unveiling a fresh murder mystery.

The dynamic duo of the astute and driven DCI McDonald and the understatedly ingenious DS Dodds reunite to solve these perplexing cases, reports the Mirror.

The acclaimed Bath-set detective drama, featuring Tala and BAFTA Award-winning actor Jason, is gearing up for its fourth series premiere this week.

Audiences can anticipate three full-length episodes, each presenting a unique murder mystery that the sharp-witted DCI McDonald and the remarkably clever DS Dodds will join forces to unravel.

Tala and Jason have given fans a sneak peek into what they can expect from the upcoming season of the popular ITV drama, revealing that viewers will be treated to appearances by some well-known faces.

The star-studded guest cast for this series includes Toby Stephens, singer-songwriters Pixie Lott and Will Young, Hugh Quarshie (Stephen), Lydia Leonard (Gentleman Jack), Daniel Lapaine , Dipo Ola, John Gordon Sinclair and Ace Bhatti.

The returning cast features Claire Skinner in her role as Chief Superintendent Ormond and Charlie Chambers as DC Goldie, while Bhavik C. Pankhania is a new addition to the line-up, taking on the role of DC Lee.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am and McDonald & Dodds returns to ITV on Sunday, July 21 at 8pm
