Casualty: Stevie Nash gives Rich her phone number

Casualty's Stevie Nash (played by Elinor Lawless) appeared to have a connection to a hunky fireman in the latest edition of the long-running BBC medical drama and fans were not happy. It has been quiet on the romantic front for the popular medic ever since she found herself in an abusive relationship.

However, on a Critical Care callout during a storm, in the first episode of a new storyline called Storm Damage, a fireman called Rich Walker (Michael Keogh) caught her eye. Despite just having met she opened up to him about her life and even told him about her late sister.

As the pair worked together at the scene it was clear there was a spark between them. As she prepared to head back to Holby, there was an awkward 'will they won't they' moment before she asked for his phone and gave him her number.

As she handed it back to him she saw a wedding ring and asked him: "Are you married, Rich?" "Yeah," he answered. "But it's complicated."

"You might want to tell your wife that," Stevie pointed out as she left him standing in the rain telling him to, "have a good day". Fans were not impressed by this latest development for Stevie and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to make their feelings known.

One fan tweeted: "Stevie Nash, you will always be iconic #Casualty."

A second added: "Do I sense a spark between Stevie and the firefighter? #Casualty."

A third said: "That’s Stevie’s new love interest generally hope he’s a good one & doesn’t hurt her but is it too good to be true #Casualty."

Jess noted: "Many thoughts about Stevie in today’s ep. will save for later. But my god #casualty." Meanwhile, Evan said: " Can tell this firefighter guy likes Stevie but part of me feels he's dodgy, dunno if it's just because it's Stevie he likes and things never go well for her #casualty."

While Stevie appeared to walk away from him tonight, the latest trailer shows them kissing so clearly romance blossoms down the line. However, there is also a scene where Stevie is in tears. Whether or not this is over Rich remains to be seen.

Rich actor Michael Keogh recently told Express.co.uk he was excited for the fan reaction to the romance.

"I'm quite interested to see the reaction because as an actor you never really know, you can never really gauge it until it's aired.

"So yeah, I'm actually really looking forward to seeing how the fans react," he admitted.

Casualty is on BBC Two on Saturday 15 June at 8.20pm. Previous episodes are available on the BBC iPlayer.
