This Morning: Guest eats raw chicken live on air

This Morning viewers were left wanting to "throw up" after a guest ate raw chicken live on air. Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley welcomed American Weston Rowe via videolink to talk about his raw meat diet.
After he extolled the virtues of his lifestyle they asked for a demonstration. Weston produced a chicken leg and proceeded to eat it live on air.
Horrified viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter to vent their disgust. @david_john0167 fumed: "#ThisMorning I’ve had to turn over, this man eating raw chicken almost made me throw up. It was disgusting. I don’t know who even thought of having this segment. So wrong!"
@mason_becc15973 raged: "We really should not be giving this character airtime. Eating raw chicken is absolutely ridiculous and ill advised. I’m wondering what he’s aiming for with all the carry on #thismorning."
@NicklessKa76058 agreed commenting: "Irresponsible showing this mad American eating raw chicken. Dr Zoe has explained why it's not safe, so why on earth have him on in the first place?! #thismorning."

@mbrsassy chimed in: "I’m going to be thinking about that guy eating raw chicken all through my upcoming 8 hour shift #thismorning," and included queasy emojis with their post.
@ManchesterVike asked: "Some guy going on about eating raw chicken. How many people are going to try this and end up in A&E #ThisMorning." (sic)
Meanwhile @claireleahy1680 said: "Gross, just gross. Please no one think this is a good idea #thismorning I’d probably eat one tiny bit of uncooked chicken and die."
The viewers weren't alone in their disgust and Cat visibly cringed as she scrunched her face up in disgust while he ate the raw meat, which he had explained he sourced locally.
Looking horrified she enquired "what the texture is like". Weston responded: "Well, I mean, it's just squishy and a little bit slimey."

One of the shows resident medics Dr Zoe Williams was also on hand to discuss how eating raw meat can affect health.

"I would advise definitely not doing that [eating raw chicken]," she told Ben.

She did acknowledge that Weston was getting it from a local farmer and it was probably more carefully prepared to reduce risk.

However she also cited the fact 48 million Americans get food borne illnesses every year as a deterrent.

This Morning is on ITV weekdays at 10am.
