ETTC: Guests 'gobsmacked' at valuation of property
Escape to the Country star Briony May Williams surprised two guests when she shared the value of a stunning home.
The BBC house hunting programme returned with a brand new episode on Monday (May 20), as the 40-year-old presenter helped Christie search for a new home.
Christie, originally from Canada, moved to the UK 30 years ago to complete her PHD, and retired just before the pandemic. Ready to say goodbye to her home of 15 years, Stratford-upon-Avon, she enlisted the help of her close friend Susan, and TV star Briony, in a bid to find a new property.
They headed to the market town of Cockermouth, located just outside the Lake District National Park in Cumbria. Christie was on the hunt to secure a two bedroom property with outdoor space and idyllic views.

With a budget of £300,000, Christie accompanied Briony to a number of different properties. The third property was the mystery house, part of the former Rickerby House Estate.
Converted into a resident dwelling 20 years ago, the property is now Grade II listed.
Christie and Susan were immediately impressed by the home, especially the large kitchen, which featured plenty of natural light.
After looking around the home, Briony asked her guests what they thought the value would be. Christie thought it would be right at the top of her budget, predicting a value of £300,000. Susan went even further, slapping a price of £350,000 on the property.

But it was good news for the duo, as Briony revealed they were both incorrect.
Revealing the home is worth just £250,000, a shocked Susan responded: "No! How do you find these places?" Christie agreed, adding: "That is quite surprising. OK."
Briony realised how stunned Susan was as she pointed out: "Look at her face!" The guest replied: "I am just gobsmacked." At the end of the episode, Christie agreed she was "dazzled" by the mystery house.
Christie explained she was willing to put an offer in on the mystery house, but was forced to wait for someone to put an offer in on hers, which was now on the market.
