BBC Bargain Hunt team have one-word reaction as Roo Irvine uncovers stunning item
Roo Irvine led the red team to victory following a tense battle on Bargain Hunt after fans struggled to call the competition.
Bargain Hunt: Red Team enamoured with bonus buy
It was a tense battle between the two teams on Bargain Hunt that left viewers gripped. Roo Irvine saved the red team from a huge loss thanks to her mystery buy leaving them lost for words.
The 42-year-old BBC antiques expert was left with £160 to go and grab Marian and Sasha a mystery item. She had a huge task as the women got off to a terrible start and lost out on their first two buys.
They splashed the cash on a 1930’s German clock paying £81, but only managed to get £61. Hopeful with their collection of art-deco broaches that they paid £31, but only managed to get £25 at auction.
Thankfully the violin was a wise buy after spending £28 which earned them an extra £12 – meaning their deficit only hit minus £14. Roo picked up on the pair’s love for art so chose a stunning large vase with a pretty red patterned design.
She spent £35 on it which she hoped would go for at least £55. Sasha and Marian's jaws dropped after falling in love with it. There was a moment of silence before they were heard saying “wow”.
Roo was delighted by their reaction after Sasha heard Marian, “Wow. Oh my gosh. It is really nice. No I really like it. Oh wow.”
Sasha grabbed hold of the heavy glazed ceramic vase and said: “It is just beautiful isn’t it. I really love it. Thank you so much.”
The presenter beamed from ear to ear as she could not believe how overjoyed the guests were at her purchase. Roo explained she paid £35 for it and was heard saying: “I would like it to go for £55 or to £60.”

However, when Eric Knowles who hosted the programme consulted the auctioneer, he felt that Roo was overly ambitious as he did not think it would get much over £25.
As it turned out he was not wrong as it struggled to sell at the auction. After a strong push, it got £25.
But this did not matter as Roo led the reds to victory and they walked away the winners, beating the blue team who lost out walking away with minus £39.
Despite the blue team missing out on the win, fans poked fun at Caroline Hawley’s mystery buy after she chose a peculiar item – which also left the guests laughing.
She told them that she bought a “Yorkshire dump”, which is more commonly known as a large paperweight or doorstop. Tony and Phil were spotted bursting into fits of laughter when she revealed the name of it.
Viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter to post a string of hilarious jokes. “I’ve never had a dump like that Caroline,” wrote one user. While another added: “£40 – that’s an expensive dump.” Meanwhile a third quipped: “I’m Yorkshire, I’m not showing you my dump Caroline.”
Bargain Hunt airs on BBC One and Iplayer at 12:15pm during the week.
