Rylan Clark's New Year's Eve duet with Rick Astley sparks division amongst BBC viewers

BBC One's New Year's Eve Rocks left some viewers horrified on Sunday night, while others applauded the "amazing" duet performed by Rylan Clark and Rick Astley. The duo collaborated on a cover of You Spin Me Round.
This Morning host Rylan, 35, and singing icon Rick, 57, seemed to stun viewers with their rendition on the show celebrating the last day of 2023 and countdown to the new year.
Taking to X, many expressed how much they enjoyed the festive entertainment. @jayne67 penned: "Rylan you were brilliant when you sang with Rick Astley, your voice is amazing."
@Sallybee76 shared: "@Rylan Omg you on stage with Rick made my new year! Thank you, I watched with my other half was a perfect night for me xxx."(sic)
"Rick & Rylan the duet we didn’t know we needed! #NewYear2024 @bbc1," enthused @ClottyGauder.
@Emmalrowley added: "A true example of someone living their best life is @Rylan… watching him last night with Rick Astley just made me smile…. how lovely when nice things happen to nice people! Keep being you Rylan, I love ya!"(sic)
However, not everyone enjoyed the performance, with @tom_lewo complaining: "Been Rick Rolled and now got Rylan singing, what a w*** start to 2024 #HappyNewYear."

Rylan joined in on the commentary himself, posting: "It can't get worse than me singing you into the new year. 2024 is on the up from here..."
Posting a snap of himself, he added: "New Year. New Me. And all that b*****.'"
Rylan may not sing very much now and is known as a television presenter, but he found fame on The X Factor in 2012.
He finished in fifth place but has since turned his attention to presenting and is now a regular This Morning host.
