Daniela Ruah opened up on how she could relate to NCIS LA's Kensi Blye with her "insecurities" as a mum.
NCIS: LA season finale teased in promo clip
NCIS LA star Daniela Ruah reflected on Kensi Blye’s experience of parenthood, touching on her own “insecurities”.
Season 14 saw Kensi Blye (played by Daniela Ruah) and Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) struggle to get pregnant, believing they might never have a child of their own.
So the couple instead decided to try fostering and ended up welcoming teenager Rosa Reyes (Natalia Del Riego) into their home.
Speaking on The Wayne Ayers Podcast, actress Ruah talked openly about what she’s enjoyed about the storyline and how she can relate to Kensi.
“What I think has been fun to play has been Kensi’s insecurity and with that I can connect with,” she said.
“When you become a parent, my kids are still young, I don’t have teenagers, so that’s me dealing with a teenager for the first time.”

Ruah continued: “I have to imagine what it would be like but I’m also raising my children from a young age so I know who they are, I know they’re likes and dislikes, I know how they like to be spoken to when they’re upset or want proximity or space.
“When you adopt a teenager, they have their very own formed personality that you have to give them the space to allow you in and show you who they are.
“But it’s fun to play Kensi as an insecure parent. ‘Am I doing it right? Am I not doing it right? Oh my gosh am I doing too much? Am I doing enough?’
“And that I can totally relate to as a parent of children, you want to be there for everything but you want to give them the space to be independent as well so it’s a fine line.”

Ruah has two children, 10-year-old River and seven-year-old Sierra, both she shares with husband and co-star Olsen’s brother David Paul Olsen.
There was an unexpected surprise in the season 14 finale though which brought tears to CBS viewers’ eyes.
Kensi discovered that she was pregnant, with herself, Deeks and Rosa overjoyed to extend their family.
Sadly, the 14th series was previously announced as the drama’s final ever outing so fans won’t be able to see how they adapt their lives to taking care of a baby.
Blye has since been busy elsewhere, having worked on a new project away from the world of NCIS LA.
The 40-year-old starred in the Netflix Portuguese drama Turn of the Tide which came out earlier this year.
As of yet, her IMDb page hasn’t been update so it is unclear what her next venture is going to be.
NCIS Los Angeles is available to watch on CBS.
