Virgin River stars celebrating the end of season 5 filming
Ahead of Virgin River's return, Doc Mullins star Tim Matheson opened up about filming intimate scenes during his career.
In speaking on the Chatting with B YouTube channel, Tim was asked by a fan whether or not it was difficult to do romantic scenes and if there was anything that he did to prepare himself for such scenes.
Tim replied: “That’s a really interesting question. It’s always awkward, you know.
"I think on our show they don’t get too graphic. I know that Martin (who plays Jack) and Alex (who plays Mel) – off come the shirts, you know and there they go.
"But Annette (who plays Hope) and I really, it’s not too much. It’s usually a kiss or we hug or something.”
“Sometimes there’s a lot of nudity in these streaming shows.”
He continued: “But it is a little awkward at first.” This led Tim to reminisce about one of his first earlier acting roles.
Tim revealed: “The funniest thing that ever happened to me was I was doing a movie for television called Obsessed With A Married Woman and I was working with Jane Seymour. This was years and years ago.”

He remarked that there were a “lot of sex scenes" as he shared: "It was about a guy who falls in love with a married woman and he just becomes obsessed and crazed about her."
“Jane is incredibly gorgeous and just a wonderful performer and we get into bed and I had a pair of trunks on or swim shorts or something and she had on a robe and a pair of underwear and a bra, I think of some sort.
"And she gets under the covers and then she takes her bra off.”
He added: “I never doubted for a second this wasn’t a character choice. It wasn’t like she was coming onto me or anything but it just elicited such a response in me.”
“It just got sexier and hotter. It was like I don’t have to act this, this is real,” he insisted.
Tim concluded: “So there’s been a lot of funny things. It’s oftentimes not very sexy – everything’s choreographed.”
Fans of Virgin River will need to tune in to see how Doc and Hope's relationship continues to develop in the new season, which airs later this year.
