LOVE ISLAND 2020 began its winter edition finale this evening, but just before the first break Laura Whitmore paid tribute to the late presenter Caroline Flack.
Caroline Flack: Love Island pays tribute to former presenter
Love Island viewers settled in to the finale of the first ever winter edition of the show this evening, however it could not be concluded without a touching tribute to the late Caroline Flack.
As the former presenter of Love Island Caroline spent a lot of time working on the show.
And this evening Laura Whitmore emotionally told audiences that she, and the rest of the Love Island crew, have been thinking of Caroline and her family in the week since her death.
Holding back tears, Laura said: “The past week has been extremely difficult coming to terms with the loss of our friend, and colleague, Caroline.
“We’re thinking of her family and everyone who knew her at this time.”
She went on to add: “Caroline loved Love Island. She loved love.
“And that’s why tonight’s final is dedicated to her.”
The show then transitioned to a montage of Caroline’s time on the show, spanning a number of seasons on ITV.
It concluded with a touching photo of her, with the words: “Caroline Flack, 1979 - 2020” underneath it.

“That tribute was brilliant and fitting for Caroline. She would have loved it. #LoveIsland,” wrote a third.

With another emotionally saying: “Nah #loveisland is breaking my heart I still can’t get over the fact she’s gone such a beautiful woman #RipCarolineFlack.”
Earlier this week Steve Coogan hit out at Rachel Burden during his interview on BBC Breakfast.
Steve was promoting his new film Greed, which includes a cameo from Caroline.
Rachel asked: “There is a poignant moment in the film when we see Caroline Flack, who plays herself in the film, introducing you as part of an award ceremony.
“Obviously we have spoken about the terribly tragic circumstances of her death, so when you heard about it, it must have been a very strange moment.”
To which Steve responded: “It’s awful my heart goes out to her loved ones. It’s tragic and raises lots of issues about social media and press, the discourse that takes place on social media.
“But I don’t want to use what is a tragic death to make political capital out of it.”
“The problem with social media is that they don’t see the whites of the eyes of the people they are talking to. People need to step back and question how they talk to each other.”
