Black Mirror: Will there be a San Junipero sequel?
BLCK MIRROR introduced Netflix subscribers to the world of San Junipero back in season 3. The episode was such a hit that many want a sequel and now one of the show’s stars has hinted it could happen.
Black Mirror's San Junipero was 'the brainchild of Ross Geller'
Over the past eight years, there have been several episodes of Black Mirror many fans never wanted to end. With each instalment on Netflix and Channel 4 standing as its own story, fans never get the chance to see how their favourite characters end up after the episode. That could change with San Junipero, however, as one of the episode’s leading cast members is open to returning.
Will there be a San Junipero sequel?
For those who haven’t seen San Junipero, Netflix’s synopsis reads: “In a seaside town in 1987, a shy young woman and an outgoing party girl strike up a powerful bond that seems to defy the laws of space and time.”
Of course, the episode isn’t without its twists and turns and it cemented itself as one of the highest-rated Black Mirror episodes to date.
The drama is brought to life by Mackenzie Davis and Gugu Mbatha-Raw and it’s the former who’s hinted she’d be open to returning to the role.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, Davis said: “Sure, I’d do another one!”

She added: “I mean everyone involved is the best. I don’t really know if that story needs a sequel, that’s my only reservation,
“But if anyone can do it it’ll be Charlie [Brooker] and Annabel [Jones], who are the creators of the show. So, yeah.
“More than anything else, people bring that episode up with me,
“It’s so funny. I was on a show for four years, and nobody ever even knows that! But yeah, San Junipero’s the one.”

While Davis is open to the idea of a Sun Junipero 2.0, unfortunately, there’s no word from Netflix it will happen.
Fans will have to keep their fingers crossed it comes to fruition.
Davis isn’t the only former Black Mirror star who’s open to reprising their role on the Netflix series.
Golden Globe-nominee Kelly Macdonald exclusively told Express.co.uk she’d “love” to return.
Macdonald led the cast in season three finale Hated in the Nation.
She said: “Oh god I loved it, yeah. Definitely. I’d want Faye [Marsay] there though,”

“I was a detective in that and we’re like Batman and Robin, we had a lot of fun. I’m so glad to be part of that.”
Similar to Davis, Netflix is still yet to release word on whether Hated in the Nation will get a sequel.
The only actors to appear in more than one episode of Black Mirror so far are Daniel Lapping, Hannah John-Kamen, Michaela Coel, Beatrice Robertson-Jones and Charles Babalola.
Black Mirror is available to stream on Netflix now.
