Brand new thriller The Capture premieres on BBC One this evening (September 3) following the story of a former soldier whose murder conviction is overturned and scrutinised following questionable video evidence, yet he finds himself in hot water once again as a free man. If the plot and action-packed trailer aren't enough to convince fans to tune in, then the star-studded cast ought to. Who stars in The Capture?
Shaun Emery – Callum Turner
Soldier Shaun Emery is portrayed in every episode of the BBC series by Callum Turner.
Emery finds himself in trouble with the law back in the UK after having a murder conviction from his time in Afghanistan overturned.
Turner takes on the role having impressed in History series War & Peace, Netflix Original film Tramps and Channel 4 series Glue.
DI Rachel Carey - Holliday Grainger
Newly promoted detective inspector Rachel Carey is played by Waterloo Road star Holliday Grainger.
The character investigates Emery’s case, making a number of shocking discoveries along the way.
The actress landed the role after starring in the 2015 remake of Cinderella and in Showtime drama The Borgias.
Jessica Mallory – Famke Janssen
X-Men star Famke Janssen plays Jessica Mallory, a character the actress describes as “a businesswoman, somebody who has gotten her way for a long time.”
After recently receiving plaudits for Netflix Original series When They See Us, she’s also appeared in How to Get Away with Murder, The Blacklist and Nip/Tuck.
Frank Napier – Ron Perlman
Golden Globe-winner Ron Perlman takes on the part of Mallory’s understudy Frank Napier.
He said of the series: “I guess it’s a thriller, definitely political and definitely crime, but it’s also so many other things.”
The actor won his Golden Globe for Beauty and the Beast and has also wowed audiences in Sons of Anarchy and Hand of God.
DCI Alex Boyd – Ralph Ineson
Ralph Ineson takes on the role of DCI Alex Boyd in The Capture.
His CV includes a number of hit UK TV series and Hollywood blockbusters, including HBO’s Game of Thrones, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Peaky Blinders.
Commander Danny Hart – Ben Miles
Military man Danny Hart is played by Cold Feet star Ben Miles.
The actor has also impressed in Lark Rise to Candleford, NBC drama Dracula and Netflix’s The Crown.
Hannah Roberts – Laura Haddock
Another Guardians of the Galaxy star, Laura Haddock stars as Hannah Roberts in every episode of The Capture.
This isn’t the first gritty BBC drama the actor’s starred in having appeared in Luther and ABC drama Missing.
Becky – Sharon Rooney
Scottish actress Sharon Rooney plays Becky in all six parts of the drama.
After breaking into the spotlight on E4’s My Mad Fat Diary, she’s gone on to star in Sherlock, Zapped and the Tim Burton family flick Dumbo.
