Game of Thrones: ‘Fire and Ice’ trailer teases season eight
Game of Thrones season eight will mark the end of the hit HBO series, which will return to television screens in April 2019.
Fans have been busy speculating how the show will end since the season seven finale in 2016.
Now, one viewer believes they have worked out how it will come to a finish.
They noted they think Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) will die as he tries to save the ones he loves most.
Reddit user VixToonsDesign revealed that he believes the ending will be “bittersweet” as promised by writer George R.R. Martin and centre around a battle.
“No one wins,” they began. “They don’t defeat the army of the dead.
“They can’t and never did. History has been manipulated to tell the story and create the hero's but the truth is the army of the dead marched forward until the wall was created to stop them.”
The first point references stories from the past about what lies beyond The Wall and how the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) came to exist.
The Game of Thrones went on to note they believe history will repeat itself.
“And this time it's going to be the same,” they continued.
“The forces against the dead will be pushed back and forced to retreat and once they realise they cannot win they will build a wall (dragons) to try and keep them out again with the dead now managing to occupy a greater percentage of Westeros.
“Jon Snow dies utterly in vein as he dies to try and win an unbeatable war.
“Destruction, devastation just like any other war. There are no winners only survivors.”
The Redditor concluded: “The threat of the dead managing to again figure out a way through the wall remains with the potential for the future them taking over the entire continent.
“Jon goes down in history as the hero but again, he died to try and save everyone but he didn't win any war. Bittersweet. His is the song of Ice and fire.”
This theory certainly seems plausible as Jon seems set on doing all he can to stop the White Walkers and Night King.
But, whether or not this is how the show comes to an end remains to be seen.
It comes after it was revealed Jon could receive support from the Golden Company in his was against the army of the dead.
The company are loyal to the Targaryen’s and while Jon does not know he is really Aegon Targaryen yet, the information could be vital for the final battle.
Game of Thrones season 8 will return to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2019. Seasons 1-7 are currently streaming on NOW TV.
