Camilla's big plans
THREE years after sparking controversy by renovating her country house for “security reasons” at an alleged cost of £1.8million to the taxpayer, the Duchess of Cornwall now wants to extend her pre-marital home to make extra room for her toddler grandchildren when they come to stay.
Camilla, 61, has applied to the North Wiltshire Council for planning consent for an extra bedroom, bathroom and a larger landing “to cater for grandchildren” at her listed mansion, Ray Mill House at Lacock, where she often spends the weekend.

The application is described by Camilla’s agent William Bartram as “sensitive” but Clarence House insists: “We expect the application to go through the normal planning process.”
Camilla has two granddaughters, Lola, 17 months – by food writer son Tom Parker Bowles and his wife Sara – and Eliza, 14 months, by daughter Laura and her husband Harry Lopez.
